How to navigate the dark college parking lot

Becoming independent as an adult is one of the most liberating feelings in the world. I’m about to get my own space, make my own rules, and be in complete control of my own life for the first time ever. I am so excited for all of the opportunities that await me, yet I can’t help but worry about the new kinds of situations I’ll be encountering alone.

Since I’ve graduated High School I have read countless stories of unprepared and unarmed college women being attacked. How many of those attacks wouldn’t have happened if they could have defended themselves? I know that when my sister and I leave we won’t have our parents close by to protect us from that sort of thing. So I intend to make sure we are prepared.

My sister and I both played softball for the better part of our lives so just by taking a peak into our garage you can see bats are covered in my household. If you’re looking for something with a little more kick like I was, I found a pink rechargeable stun gun for under $15. Maybe, the stun gun and the baseball bats are a little to hardcore for you and you want something less aggressive. I have had pepper spray in my purse since I started driving and I’m thankful for the extra security.  I just want to feel safe and be able to level the playing field if I am ever put in a threatening situation.

My first thought was to take a self defense class but to be honest your girl would have to dip after the first free class. I looked on youtube and found a demonstration for 5 different techniques. Just remember, an investment for your safety is an investment for your future. 😉
