Away from home: Halloween apartment edition

Holidays away from home

It’s my first year living away from home, going to college, and living in an apartment with only my sister. Safe to say life has changed a lot in the last couple of months. It has been adjustments on top of adjustments. My car wouldn’t start the other day and my first thought was ‘Oh just call dad!’ What a reality check that was, let me tell you. One thing that has seemed to remain constant is my sister’s obsession with the holidays. With Halloween and Thanksgiving right around the corner, our apartment looks like a cross between a creepy dungeon and a giant pumpkin patch. Strange but somehow it works. Decorating at my parent’s house for holidays was not something we really did. Up until the year we moved out we hadn’t ever done it, it was a hassle something no one wanted to take down once they were up. That’s why I made Hannah swear she’d put them all away if I help her put them up.

Spooky season!

Today is October 1st, the first day of the spooky season, meaning our decorations were up before the crack of dawn. Our front door cover is a giant spiderweb featuring our favorite spider Vader. I thought that would be it, but of course, that was only the outside! My mom sent us a few things to make our apartment feel more like home for the holidays. For the living room, we got some cute pumpkins and a creepy little ghost guy. In the hallway, the creepy witch continuously scares the shit out of me during a 2 A.M. pee. Lastly some cool posters and bathroom decorations. I have never seen my sister so excited to set up for the spooky season this year. Once everything was all set up we were able to sit down and watch 30 days of Halloween themed movies.
